British professors in Ukrainian universities: the UK–UA Visiting Professors Programme grant

The President’s Fund of Ukraine for the Support of Education, Science and Sports has launched the UK–UA Visiting Professors Programme (EDU CONNECT). Through this call, Ukrainian higher education institutions can invite lecturers from leading UK universities that rank in the global TOP 250 of QS, THE or ARWU.

The programme strengthens international academic integration for Ukrainian universities. It also supports STEM education and wider access to modern teaching and research practices. Moreover, it helps institutions build long-term capacity during the war and throughout recovery.

Programme format and content

Invited British professors join both teaching and research activities at Ukrainian universities. They act as lecturers, mentors and research partners.

For example, cooperation may include lectures and seminars, practical classes and consultations for students and researchers. It can also include open academic events and joint research work. Importantly, the programme requires an on-site visit to the host Ukrainian university.

Requirements for invited professors

The call targets lecturers who teach and conduct research at UK universities in the global TOP 250. In addition, invited professors must specialise in STEM fields. They must also commit to active teaching and research engagement in Ukraine.

Who can apply

Ukrainian higher education institutions of any ownership form may apply if they can organise the on-site visit. However, each university may submit only one application.

The programme excludes universities that invite lecturers who have worked in the Russian Federation or in Ukraine’s temporarily occupied territories after 2014.

Funding

The programme provides grant support to engage international lecturers.

Maximum grant amount: up to UAH 250,000 per invited professor;

additional co-funding from the university increases competitiveness during evaluation.

Key dates

Application period: 19 December 2025 to 15 February 2026 (inclusive);

Teaching activity period: March to June 2026.

Evaluation criteria

Evaluators consider several factors. First, they review the invited professor’s academic profile and relevant experience. Next, they assess the quality and feasibility of the teaching and research plan. Finally, they examine expected results and the broader impact on the host university and Ukraine’s higher education system.
