“Culture During Wartime”: Ukrainian Cultural Foundation Launches New Grant Call

The Ukrainian Cultural Foundation (UCF) has opened applications for the “Innovative Cultural Product” LOT within the grant programme “Culture During Wartime.” The competition supports projects that develop new artistic formats, respond to the challenges of war, and strengthen the cultural resilience of Ukrainian society.

Programme Overview

The LOT encourages creators to explore innovative approaches in theatre, music, visual arts, literature, multimedia projects, professional publications, and hybrid artistic forms. Projects may include musicals, documentary exhibitions, shadow theatre, interactive performances, or experimental cultural products that expand traditional practices.

UCF emphasises the importance of culture as a tool of resistance, national expression, and international communication. Therefore, the programme prioritises works that address the social and cultural consequences of Russia’s aggression, preserve Ukrainian identity, and increase the visibility of Ukrainian culture globally.

What the Programme Supports

  • projects reflecting on current historical events and the War for Independence of Ukraine, strengthening morale and supporting civic mobilisation;
  • initiatives countering Russian information and cultural influence, promoting narratives of national identity and solidarity;
  • artistic practices that use culture as a form of resistance and international advocacy for Ukrainian values;
  • innovative formats combining traditional and contemporary artistic approaches, introducing new models of audience engagement;
  • projects addressing wartime experiences, issues of temporarily occupied territories, IDPs, veterans, and others affected by war.

Funding and Requirements

The programme supports projects across multiple cultural sectors. Applicants should demonstrate clear objectives, artistic value, and a strong implementation plan. UCF also expects projects to contribute to societal resilience, cultural continuity, and the international representation of Ukraine.
