Contest “Socio-Economic Resilience in Local Communities”: Support for Social Enterprises in War-Affected Regions

The International Renaissance Foundation and the East Europe Foundation have launched a new call within the Impulse Project to strengthen social entrepreneurship and promote economic resilience in communities affected by the war. The initiative, supported by the governments of Norway (Norad) and Sweden (Sida), seeks to create long-term impact through innovation and cooperation.

Program Goal

The program aims to empower local initiatives that foster employment, self-sustainability, and socially oriented business development. Moreover, it focuses on helping communities build resilience and create sustainable, community-driven economic models that directly address local challenges.

Contest Stages

The competition unfolds in two stages to ensure step-by-step development of participants’ skills and projects:

  • Stage 1: The organizers will select 1–3 organizations to conduct Accelerator Schools. These schools will train representatives of civil society organizations on launching and managing social enterprises, with special emphasis on strategy, marketing, and financial stability.
  • Stage 2: After completing the training, participants can apply for small grants to bring their ideas to life. As a result, they will transform their project concepts into real initiatives that strengthen local economies and social cohesion.

Who Can Apply

Civil society organizations, social enterprises, and community initiatives operating in war-affected regions are encouraged to apply. In addition, preference goes to applicants capable of scaling their impact or developing innovative, community-oriented business models that respond to urgent social needs.

Funding and Support

During the second stage, participants will receive small grants for launching or expanding their social enterprises. Alongside financial assistance, they will gain access to expert mentorship, business consulting, and networking opportunities that enhance their organizational capacity and sustainability.

Deadline

Applications for Stage 1 are open until December 10, 2025.
