EUPI-PV Grant for Scaling Up Perovskite Solar Cells under Horizon Europe

The European Union has launched a new call EUPI-PV that can bridge the gap between laboratory achievements and industrial production of perovskite solar modules. This opportunity targets innovative companies, research centers, and manufacturers aiming to bring technology to the market.

Programme Overview

The call “Towards commercialisation of Perovskite PV and development of dedicated manufacturing equipment (EUPI-PV Partnership)” supports projects advancing perovskite photovoltaics from research to industrial deployment. Focus areas include large-scale coating, module stability, encapsulation, and protection against moisture, oxygen, heat, and radiation. Recycling aspects, reduction of material toxicity, and the development of tailored manufacturing equipment are also in scope. A strong business model, commercialization strategy, and market entry plan are required.

Who Can Apply

Eligible applicants are organizations from EU Member States and Horizon Europe-associated countries, including Ukraine. Consortia must include at least one manufacturer of perovskite materials or equipment. Partnerships are encouraged to combine scientific, technological, industrial, and environmental expertise. Participants must have legal status and the capacity to sign grant agreements.

What Is Funded

Funding covers projects that scale up perovskite film production, enhance stability and durability of modules, and develop encapsulation solutions against environmental stress. Supported activities include designing recyclable modules, reducing toxicity risks, and developing dedicated production equipment. Each project must present a business model, commercialization roadmap, risk management strategy, and plans for follow-up financing.

Deadline and Budget

The application deadline is 17 February 2026. The total call budget is up to €24 million, with the EU contribution expected at around €8 million per project. Funding will be provided as an Innovation Action covering up to 70% of project costs. Projects should demonstrate readiness for industrial implementation.
