The ERC Consolidator Grant Competition (ERC-2025-COG): An Opportunity to Bring Your Ambitious Scientific Ideas to Life

The European Research Council (ERC) has announced the ERC Consolidator Grant (ERC-2025-COG) competition under the Horizon Europe program. This grant is designed to support promising researchers with 7 to 12 years of experience since earning their Ph.D., who aim to establish their independent research teams and implement innovative ideas in science.

Objectives of the Competition

The ERC Consolidator Grant program primarily aims to drive scientific breakthroughs and foster innovations that reshape our understanding of the world. Its key objectives are:

Developing scientific potential: The program supports researchers with unique ideas, enabling them to establish their own independent research teams. By doing so, it lays a strong foundation for future studies and secures the sustainability of scientific initiatives.

Stimulating scientific breakthroughs: The grant empowers projects with significant potential to advance science. Researchers can redefine approaches to complex problems or introduce new directions in scientific inquiry through their innovative efforts.

Encouraging innovative interdisciplinary approaches: The program prioritizes ideas that merge knowledge and methods from various disciplines. This approach helps create new scientific fields that go beyond traditional boundaries.

Maximizing societal impact: Research under the ERC Consolidator Grant profoundly influences the academic world and directly benefits practical applications, the economy, technological advancements, and social systems.
