Erasmus+ CBHE Cross-Regional 2026: international cooperation for higher education development

The European Commission has opened the call Erasmus-EDU-2026-CBHE-CROSS-REGIONAL aimed at strengthening the institutional capacity of higher education systems through cross-regional partnerships. The initiative supports cooperation between universities from EU Member States, Erasmus+ associated countries, and partner countries, including Ukraine.

Call overview

The programme focuses on modernising higher education, improving governance, enhancing employability, and promoting innovation. Projects must demonstrate a strong cross-regional dimension and contribute to sustainable institutional development.

What the call supports

  • modernisation of curricula and development of new study programmes;
  • capacity building for management, quality assurance, and governance reforms;
  • digital transformation and innovative teaching methods;
  • creation of centres of excellence and long-term academic partnerships;
  • staff training, mobility activities and development of academic networks;
  • strengthening links between universities, public authorities, and labour-market stakeholders.

Eligibility

Applications must be submitted by consortia that meet the following requirements:

  • at least two organisations from EU Member States or Erasmus+ associated countries;
  • at least two organisations from each partner region involved;
  • participation of higher education institutions is mandatory; public authorities and non-profit organisations may also join.

10 February 2026, 17:00 Brussels time.

Proposals are submitted via the EU Funding & Tenders Portal and must follow all instructions outlined in the Erasmus+ Programme Guide. Applications should clearly demonstrate their regional impact, sustainability, and contribution to higher-education system development.
