The Norwegian Directorate for Higher Education and Skills (HK-dir) has announced the Nansen EDU call, which aims to strengthen academic cooperation between higher education institutions in Norway and Ukraine. The programme supports joint projects in education, research and institutional development.
The initiative is part of Norway’s broader policy to support Ukraine and to build sustainable partnerships in higher education. It focuses on long-term impact, knowledge transfer and strengthening the institutional capacity of Ukrainian universities.
Programme objective
The Nansen EDU programme aims to improve the quality of higher education and research in Ukraine through partnerships with Norwegian universities. In addition, it supports the integration of Ukrainian institutions into the European and international higher education area.
Supported areas
Within this call, projects may cover the following areas:
- joint educational programmes and courses;
- development of curricula and teaching methodologies;
- institutional strengthening of universities;
- academic mobility of students and staff;
- joint research initiatives.
Funding
The programme provides grant funding for consortia that include Norwegian and Ukrainian higher education institutions.
Maximum project budget: up to NOK 5,000,000;
Project duration: up to 3 years.
Key dates
Application deadline: 2 March 2026, 13:00 (CET);
Indicative project start: June–July 2026.
