IREX has announced a grant competition that aims to strengthen local veterans support systems in Ukraine. The programme supports the Government of Ukraine in operationalising veterans’ policies at the local level.
In particular, the selected grantee will implement a project that improves local planning, spending and tracking of resources for veterans. Moreover, the project should strengthen cross-sector cooperation and upgrade service quality through community engagement and learning.
Programme focus
The grant supports practical actions that help build sustainable, locally embedded systems of support for veterans. Therefore, proposals should focus on institutional capacity, service quality and coordination mechanisms.
Key areas of intervention include strengthening the capacity of local authorities to manage veterans-related resources. In addition, projects should improve cooperation across sectors and enhance services through peer learning and targeted training.
Eligible applicants
The call is open to civil society organisations. This includes NGOs, charitable organisations and charitable foundations with relevant experience and capacity.
Grant size and duration
IREX expects to award one grant of up to USD 520,000. Meanwhile, the anticipated implementation period runs from February 2026 to October 2027.
