Ukrainian-German Translation Program 2025–2026: Opportunities for Emerging Translators

Applications are now open! The Ukrainian-German Translation Program 2025–2026 invites emerging translators to take part in a unique educational and professional development course. The initiative not only helps participants deepen their understanding of contemporary Ukrainian literature—both fiction and nonfiction—but also offers valuable mentorship and hands-on experience in literary translation.

The program provides a rare opportunity to explore a wide range of genres and translation techniques. Moreover, participants will analyze texts from linguistic, stylistic, and cultural perspectives while experimenting with new translation methods. In addition, special attention will be given to maintaining accuracy, tone, and the author’s voice in the target language. Through a series of guided discussions and workshops, participants will learn how to identify common translation challenges and gradually develop their own professional style.

Throughout the program, emerging translators will work closely with experienced mentors, editors, and literary experts. This collaborative environment not only encourages open dialogue but also ensures constructive feedback at every stage of the process. Furthermore, participants will refine their drafts, exchange insights with peers, and receive personalized guidance to improve language precision, style, and contextual understanding. The program also creates a professional network for international exchange and long-term collaboration between Ukrainian and German translation communities.

Program format: The online course will run from November 17, 2025, to February 27, 2026. The active working phase will take place from November 17, 2025, to January 16, 2026, followed by an editorial phase from January 19 to February 27, 2026. During this period, participants will refine their translations under expert supervision and prepare them for publication or public presentation.

As a result, the program helps young professionals enhance their translation skills, strengthen cross-cultural understanding, and build lasting professional connections. In the final stage, participants will present their work, share reflections, and explore opportunities for future projects and cooperation.

Application deadline: November 2, 2025.
