Grant Competition to Support Entrepreneurs: How to Apply

The grant competition “Support for the Economic Development of Internally Displaced Persons and War-Affected Individuals in Ukraine,” implemented by Helvetas Swiss Intercooperation with funding from the Ministry of the Interior of the Czech Republic in cooperation with the Czech Development Agency, announces a grant competition for entrepreneurs.

Purpose of the Competition

The main goal is to assist entrepreneurs with social or financial vulnerabilities in starting, restoring, or expanding their business activities in the Kharkiv (excluding temporarily occupied territories), Poltava, and Dnipropetrovsk regions.

Who Can Apply?

Priority will be given to applicants who:

  • Became internally displaced persons (IDPs) after February 24, 2022.
  • Returned to their permanent residence after holding IDP status.
  • Belong to socially vulnerable groups, such as:

Veterans and their families.
Persons with disabilities, their guardians, or caregivers.
Single parents or families with many children.
Individuals who lost their homes due to the war.

  • Lost their source of income due to military actions.

Priority Business Areas

Grants are aimed at supporting businesses in the following fields:

  • Construction and repair work.
  • Auto repair services.
  • Cleaning and laundry services.
  • Beauty services (hairdressing, manicure).
  • Fast food establishments (cafés, bakeries).
  • Small farming (greenhouses, beekeeping, etc.).
  • Sewing services.
  • Handcrafted goods.

Grant Coverage

Each winner will receive a grant of 117,000 UAH, which can be used for:

  • Equipment purchase.
  • Purchase of consumables (up to 20% of the budget).
  • Payment for equipment setup or consulting services.

How to Apply?

To participate, you need to:

Complete the online form: Submit Application.

Provide the following documents:

  • Completed business plan form (available for download on the organizers’ website).
  • Photos/videos of your business activities or a presentation of your business idea.
  • Documents confirming social vulnerability (IDP certificate, damage report, etc.).
  • Recommendation letters, certificates, or other achievements (optional).

Application deadline: February 9, 2025.

Information Session

An information session will be held on January 30 at 3:00 PM. During the session, organizers will explain the competition details and answer participants’ questions.

Registration for the session is open until January 29 at 12:00 PM via the link: Register for the Information Session. Participants can join online or in person in Kharkiv (the exact address will be provided to registered participants).

Administrative Support

Helvetas will provide grant winners with project management, monitoring, and reporting consultations.
